Sheri L. Howze

Dr. Sheri L. Howze is a board-certified pediatrician who received her undergraduate education from Spelman College and medical education from Meharry Medical College. Dr. Howze completed a Pediatric Internship and Residency at Tripler Army Medical Center and after residency was assigned to Ft. Bliss, Texas, William Beaumont Army Medical Center. Upon her return, she was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and decided to stay in El Paso and call it home. Over the past 7 years, Dr. Howze has worked as a Pediatric Hospitalist, supervising physician of a Pediatric urgent care and clinician for a private practice. Dr. Howze has been committed to the care of children for over 10 years and is excited to bring her experience and philosophy of the “bee” to the El Paso community!

Dr. Howze enjoys being in the great outdoors! She loves to travel to experience different cultures, fitness workouts, cook, read and garden. Aside from caring for children, spending quality time with her family and proudly being married to her supportive and loving husband brings her the most joy!

My Story

"What do you want to be when you grow up" is a question that many children hear. For me, it was always "a doctor." When I reflect on my career choice, I don't think it was just the love of the sciences, the desire to want to help others or any significant life event that impacted my decision. I believe being raised in a small military family where discipline, structure and a sense of humanity and compassion prepared me for a career in medicine. I'm certain the frequent moves, having to make new friends, and dealing with change gave me the foundation to enter into a field in which you never know what the day may bring (literally and figuratively). From the gregarious 4-year-old to the introverted teenager, I discovered my gift to connect with children. Pediatrics was reflective of my own childhood filled with exploration, adaptability, growth, and development. It's something about their personalities, inquisitiveness, boldness to think and do the unimaginable that made me see a little of myself in each child I encountered.

Pursuing my dream of being a doctor has had its ebb and flow. There have been highs, lows, failures, and even setbacks. Nonetheless, my family, perseverance, and grace allowed my dream to become a reality! I have been given the opportunity to give to a community that has given so much to me! Get ready El Paso!

Innovation and Technology to Pediatric care is our mission.
